Lisa Walker - Business Operator & Administrator

My role I joined Silver Tree in Feb of this year to support with business operations and administration to cover maternity leave. My background is in retail management and as a result of joining SilverTree I definitely feel that I am part of a family run business that does a great job of supporting both adults and children, which is invaluable in these challenging times that we find ourselves in. Every day is different and there are lots of pieces of work to keep me occupied to ensure that we stay up to date, compliant and relevant. As I joined just before Covid lockdown, unfortunately I have not had the pleasure of meeting the team in person yet but I still very much feel part of them and I am looking forward to doing so soon.

About me At home I have a young daughter who keeps me on my toes and my husband runs his own business too so I am never short of things to do, walks to go on, dolls to play with or accounts to keep up to date! In our spare time we also love to travel and see the world.

Helen Rhead - Support Worker

  1. My role I have worked for SilverTree for about 7 years now and the company is very supportive  and always at hand if needed. SilverTree encourages training at all times and makes sure it's up to date for the work and care with our clients. I have clients with different needs and challenges and my work includes shopping, cleaning, taking clients to their appointments and also going out. Giving as much advice as possible, also we promote well-being and self-esteem to each customer. We encourage them to get involved in everyday life and make them feel confident and give them self-worth. The results are very rewarding, not every day is the same and there are different challenges all the time.

About me Before I started as a support worker I worked for Royal Doulton as a Paintress for 35 years. I started at the age of 14 on the 10th of August 1970. I was made redundant after 35 years. After that I then started to work for Brighter Futures. At the time it was known as Potteries Housing- I did most of my training there. Then afterwards I went to work for SilverTree where I continue to refresh my training.

As for my spare time I like to go out at weekends for a meal, see family, and now and again go to the pictures. I also love going on my annual holiday to Greece, which is our favourite place and I love going for weekend breaks too!

Martina - Support Worker

My role I have been working for SilverTree for 8 years. My role here at SilverTree is a Support Worker. My job involves providing support to families and individuals in need of help to ensure they live happy and independent lives. Over the years I have supported many different service users and families helping them attend appointments, cleaning duties within the  home, activities, school runs, personal care etc. I can honestly say being a Support Worker is incredibly rewarding and I really believe by being a part of the SilverTree Home Support team we really do make a difference out in the community.

About me I am 27, a wife and mummy. I like spending my free time with my family having as much fun as possible.
I am a very creative person and have a love for arranging flowers. I was also a beautician, so I still love nails and bake a lot of yummy treats.

Shelina - Support Worker

My role I have worked at silver tree for just over five years. I am a working mother, so the flexible hours works well for my children. Every day I face different clients who have different needs and I enjoy supporting them! I take my clients outdoors whenever any parents need respite from everyday life, for example, I take them to parks or shopping centres.

About me In my spare time, I enjoy sewing and watching Netflix with my children.

Sue Cotton - Company Director and Care Manager

My role    I am the Company Director and Registered Care Manager of Silver Tree Home Support Community Interest Company. I am passionate about the improvement of care provision and I am always striving for excellence in care. I was inspired to make a difference to people's lives by my mum who for many years was a nurse, caring for people with learning disabilities, and later caring for older people in care home settings. When the time came for my mum to receive additional support in her home I felt that the services offered were not person centred and therefore failed in that respect to meet my mums needs after she had been recently diagnosed with dementia.
Around this time I had also been made redundant from a Local Authority role within Children and Young People's services. I considered the need for a completely holistic approach to care. In 2012 as a result Silver Tree Home Support was established and developed as a regulated care provider. Initially support was provided for adults then supporti g children. Moving on from these early days we have now grown from strength to strength with a wonderful team of staff and amazing clients. During this time we have also gained good consistently across all our regulatory outcomes with our Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspections. I am so proud of everyone who has made this possible.
As a healthcare professional I am constantly updating my competence and knowledge, enjoying learning and gaining new skills and knowledge in the sector.I am now extremely excited to be commencing my Learning Disability Nursing studies in September 2020 at Derby University.
